Registration

Aimed at club members wanting to progress from lake and canal paddling to moving rivers. This is run over 2-days and will introduce you to white water skills on grade 1 and 2 water. Individualised coaching will help you progress at your rate and learn to enjoy the fun of paddling on moving water. We will work with you on skills, confidence and psychology over two full days.

During the weekend we will cover the essential skills of forward paddling, turning strokes, ferry gliding, breaking in to and out of the flow and edge control. We will also discuss safety and trip planning.

Day One will introduce you to kayaking skills on a Grade I moving water. You will learn basic strokes and boat control, such as forward paddling, turning, and ferry gliding.

Day Two will develop these skills further on grade two water and introduce you to skills for ferry gliding in slightly faster flow, breaking in and out of the flow and moving down simple rapids during a short fun river trip. We will also look at safety and equipment and trip planning.
