Sammy Deans has kindly offered to run a flatwater SEA KAYAKING skills session at Conningbrook.

This event is open to all members where Sammy will cover off the fundamentals of how to control a sea kayak.

We have 4 club boats available, but also is open to anyone who has their own sea kayak and wants to work on their skills.

PLEASE NOTE. It is getting very muddy and wet by the containers. If you can please drop off your boats and park on the tarmac by the entrance.

Thank you

-----------------------

The access point of Conningbrook as changed and so has the parking arrangements. You can drive down to drop off boats/kit, however you will need to park in the  newly laid access road. There is limited spaces but if we park sensibly we will be able to accommodate everyone.

Location of the access drive can be found here.

PLEASE NOTE.

There are NO official changing facilities onsite. You will either have to get changed by your car or under the shelter by the lake. This is not ideal, I know, but this is what we have to work with. Please consider other facility users (Families / Walkers) when getting changed.

You will have access to the lake for 2 hours so don't forget a drink and snacks.

This session is suitable to all competent members who can paddle in a straight line for 50m and perform a self rescue*.

Please bring your own equipment if you have it, however you have access to Kayaks, Stand up paddle board or one of the club canoes within the container

* A self rescue is generally an eskimo roll or swimming to the bank with your boat and paddle, retrieving it from the water and getting back in unassisted. This can be taught in the skills session
