River Trip

Come join us for a river trip from Hartlake Bridge to Yalding. The trip will take around 3-3.5hrs (8km) and will incorporate two portages and one canoe chute, this can also be portaged for those not wanting to run the chute. Time permitting we may even have a play at the bottom of each canoe chute.

The trip is open to all members who are at or above stage two of the Pirates Pathway and is suitable to all craft.

As we will be on the water for more than 2.5hr it is advisable to bring a packed lunch or some light snacks and a drink. We will probably stop at Sluice Weir.

Lastly we will need to leave a couple of cars at the finishing point so we can run drivers back to collect card, please let us know on slack if you are willing to be a shuttle bunny.

Organiser's: Malcolm Oates

* We are now using WHAT3WORD when giving out meet up locations; it provides a more precis location for more remote sites that we use. If you do not already have it on your phone, we strongly advise downloading the app, its free so no reason not to have it. It is also used by emergency services throughout the southeast and can be given as a location reference when needing their services. (https://what3words.com/)

** A self-rescue is generally an eskimo roll/rescue or swimming to the bank with your boat and paddle, retrieving it from the water and getting back in unassisted. This can be taught in the skills session.
