Introduction to Paddle Boarding for Women

This session has been designed to give you the basic skills in paddle boarding.  It's a chance for you to try paddle boarding in a safe environment, being run by women for women.

This session will be held at Conningbrook Lakes where we will talk through the fundamentals of paddle boarding. This session will include some time on the water so be prepared for the weather (suggestions below)

What is included: All the equipment needed for each session:

  • Paddle boards
  • Paddles
  • Helmet
  • Buoyancy Aid
  • Wet suit (optional)
  • Dry top (optional)
  • Access to Conningbrook lake

This course must be pre-booked as so we know how many coaches we need for each session; we cannot accept on the day arrivals.

We are also running an introduction to paddlesports for Juniors at the same time.  Please book them into that session..

Alfresco changing rooms. Unfortunately, we do not have changing rooms on site.  We do have changing tents for you to use.  Due to the nature of paddle boarding, it is highly likely you will get wet, so please bring a towel and warm, dry clothes to change into.

There are no toilets on site, although you can use the Julie Rose.

Wet suits.  As a club, we have some wet suits you can borrow along with a dry top to keep you warm.  If you are using our wet suits, please wear a swimming costume underneath.  If you would prefer to use your own clothes, please remember that they will get wet and man-made is better than cotton.  You may want to wear a thin waterproof to keep the wind off.

    Footwear

    • Beach shoes / sandals are ideal.
    • Old trainers
    • Wet-suit booties

Swimming You will need to be able to swim 50m and be confident around water.

After the paddle We will have some flasks of tea/coffee available for after the paddle with as a chance to get to know everyone.

    Location of Conningbrook Lake

The road, access, point to Conningbrook  can be found using what3word here (https://w3w.co/mirror.logic.class)

As parking is limited by the lake, we ask where possible, that you drop off boats/kit, and park in the newly laid access road. There are limited spaces, if we park sensibly, we will be able to accommodate everyone.
