Coached Beginner/Intermediate Surf Kayaking in Devon
This activity is Coached and Led by Ian Dovey of Dovey Coaching, Ian is a Paddle UK Surf Kayak Coach based in Devon. He will be providing Sit On Top Kayaks and paddles for this activity but you are welcome to bring a half slice or surf kayak if you have one and have a solid roll or are happy swimming and emptying yourself.
This session will be somewhere in Devon depending on what the Surf and Swell is doing, it could be as close as Exeter.
We are planning this as a day trip, get up incredibly early, car share, drive down to Devon, have a blast on the beach kayaking and come back the same day. We are not arranging transport, this will be done in the Slack channel on sign up and you are responsible for splitting the fuel costs between you.
If you want to stay over and make a weekend of it, thats entirely up to you :)
Date: Saturday 25th April 2026
Cost: £75 per person (this covers the cost of the coaching and equipment use for anyone who wants to use a SOT)
Club Equipment: Equipment is available to borrow, please make sure you book it out with the Quartermaster at least 2 weeks i advance and collect at least 1 week in advance of use if away from Lake and deliver it back within 1 week after use.
Skils level Required: Discover Award/or same ability level.
You need to be water confident, happy getting bounced off in the surf and be able to swim your way in or remember to standup as you will likely be shallow enough to.
You need to know how to paddle a kayak.
